Pebble Project
Does
a facility’s design contribute to a patient’s
healing? Can physical surroundings help lower a patient’s
and family’s stress? Is good design cost-effective?
The Pebble Project seeks to answer these and other questions.
The project is a joint research effort between the nonprofit
Center for Health Care Design and health care organizations
to study the impact of physical design on patient outcomes
and staff effectiveness.
Like
throwing a pebble in the water, the Pebble Project hopes
to create a ripple effect through research
and by documenting
examples of health care facilities whose design has made
a difference in the quality of care and financial performance
of the institution.
